Hi All,
It's been a while since the last Prescription post -- and for good reason! I've been heads-down building a new company, Avon Health: an AI-first, no-code/low-code EMR powering next-gen healthcare (now serving tens of thousands providers and patients every day!).
But now, it’s time to get back to sharing insights about healthtech and the lessons I’ve learned while building a rapidly scaling company in this space. The Prescription is officially returning with a fresh perspective and some exciting new additions!
A Dose of What’s New
HealthTech Founders
I’m thrilled to introduce HealthTech Founders, a new community we've been building. With over 2,000 members already onboard, it's become a lively place. Some highlights:
Events: Hosted events like the a16z x HealthTech Founders happy hour
Private CRM: Facilitated several successful acquisitions, investments, and sales
Slack Discussions: Shared insights that saved members tens of thousands of dollars, like tips on securing the best cybersecurity insurance policies
What’s next? We’re planning to expand with AMAs featuring industry experts, founder spotlights, and more opportunities for collaboration.
P.S. We’re looking for co-moderators to help scale this community! If you have deep healthcare knowledge, strong industry connections, and a passion for community building, please email us at htf@avonhealth.com.
Insights from Avon Health
I think a lot of the conversation around healthtech focuses too much on theory and research, and too little on practical perspectives from the field (i.e. building a healthtech startup). With Avon, I've been lucky to get a driver's-seat view of everything from the complexities of actually billing for value-based care to the operational challenges of working with legacy healthtech systems (ask me about deciphering HL7 files...)
In upcoming posts, I’ll share practical insights and behind-the-scenes stories from the perspective of a high-growth startup (currently over 10x YoY growth!) that also works with a lot of other interesting high-growth startups and traditional brick-and-mortal practices.
Reader Engagement
I've been fortunate to receive so much valuable feedback and insights from all of you on The Prescription articles. I would love to expand on this by interviewing you as experts, collaborating on guest posts, and hearing your suggestions for future topics.
Here are a few ideas I’m considering for the next post:
340B: The path to hell is paved with good intentions
Gene Therapy: Curing patients is profitable after all
Buying Oncology Drugs: How economics 101 is wrong
Which of these topics excites you the most? Or is there another burning question in healthtech that you’d like to see explored? Let me know!
Looking forward to reconnecting with all of you soon in the HealthTech Founders community and through The Prescription!
